Jean-Paul Huchon, president of the Regional Council of Paris, is head of the IAU île-de-France.
 
Goals
  • Propose collective and sector urban planning and development policies for the Paris region, and create the tools to implement them.
  • Guide analysis and forecasting of regional development.
  • Develop consulting projects and studies on various institutions, including the Regional Council of Paris, the State and decentralized services, the départements, the municipalitiesand theirmultilateral groupings,and diverse French and foreign public agencies.
  • As part of the preliminary studies for revision of the 1994 Regional Plan, the IAU île-de-France is conducting thematic assessments for the Paris Region Master Plan (SDRIF).
Fields of Activity
  • A global conception of urban development: master plans, green plans, regional plans for tourism, landscaping plans, urban policy, urban economic opportunity zones (zones franches urbaines), etc.
  • Environmentally friendly policies and sustainable development: knowledge of environmental conditions, green belts, parks, resources, pollution, etc.
  • The Paris region’s population and its lifestyle
  • Economic and financing issues: economic networks, employment, land, research, local financing, ICTs, etc.
  • Metropolitan transport: transport master plans, accessible urban transport for the handicapped, environmental impact, etc.
